Hi, not sure where on earth I should post about this.

Just finished a template for a site. Problem is, the client says that there are some errors popping up in IE8?

It looks like IE8 isn't supporting a flash object in the way you defined.  I would not make changes to fix it for IE8 if it breaks it in any of the standard browsers.

IE8 is not yet out of beta technically.  RC1 is still considered beta imo; their site even states this: "RC1 is short for "Release Candidate 1". Release candidate software is ready to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing. You may experience minor bugs or compatibility issues with websites while browsing."

Options: It's beta, and not even marginally adopted yet.  You could research to see how to define flash objects in IE8

Options: IT'S BETA.  It's a bit unreasonable for your client to expect perfect functionality in a browser that is not yet fully released and less than adopted, let alone Internet Explorer.

Exactly. You should never guarantee a site will work in a beta browser (that includes Google Chrome), as the browser code is not yet stable, and can change at anytime, causing the site not to work again in the future. Once the browser comes out of beta testing and a proper release is made, you can spend the time to get it working (on the clients dime). But until that point, you are wasting your time and their money (that they are paying for your time).
