Personal Messages/Noobie status
« on: February 23, 2007, 12:39:38 PM »
Is the reason I can't send personal messages because I am still a noob?
If not, when would I be able to send them?

Either way, how long (how many posts do I need) till I am no longer a noobie?

Thanks!
-John

PMs have been disabled for the n00bie group, in an attempt to prevent PM spam. (Which, by the way, works very well.) I believe you go from n00bie to the next rank at 25 posts. That being said, I'd like to make a few things clear for everybody who might be asking the same questions.

Do NOT spam the boards so you can reach your 25 posts, or however many it is.

The same applies to sending PMs for help once you are no longer a "n00bie". Don't. If you need help with something and notice that someone is particularly good at the subject at hand, just post and hope that they see it and respond. Do not contact anybody with requests for help.

Thanks for the info.  It is totally understandable.  I was trying to send a PM to thank someone so I didn't have to "bump" a topic.  Oh well.

Thanks again!

I second that - sending someone a PM asking to look at a topic is a pretty surefire way to make sure they don't help with it. If you're going to PM someone asking for help, be prepared to pay them their consulting fee...

On Preview: thanking someone is certainly welcome though :)

FYI, the noobie group is only until 10 posts.... so you don't have far to go, johng.
