Wow! When I just checking in this morning, I though my post in the thread I was viewing had myself and someone else's switched around in some display glitch or something. I was thrown-off by the new label beneath my name lol

Thanks guys! :) I really appreciate it!
I also really enjoy helping out in these forums, and learning from others helping me out as well. The road is a long, hard traveled one for me (with plenty to go).
But forums like these (and you guys) make it all worth while ;)

Thanks again!

I did the same thing lol, I couldn't believe my eyes either.

Also notice that the secret decoder ring unlocks some extra forums at the bottom, and the ring should be in the mail within 9 to 10 years :)

Congrat's nrg_alpha,

for short do we call you nrg or alpha.. na not calling you alpha.. lol Na will do :)

I think we all did that eye twitching thing, My first thought was why is my name highlighted its not as if i am going to login to check if i'm logged in! maybe i added myself to my own buddy list!

i'll admit with me it was a bit of a kick in the teeth, as the forum status (by name only) was based in the number of posts and i was promted from "Elite Guru" to "PHP Guru".. seamed a little a weird but with decoder ring its fun!

EDIT: infact its 8 to 10 years but you must be in when it arrives.. or its becomes void. it has a 98% chance of arriving when your on the loo!

Thanks MadTechie :)

you can call me nrg, alpha, Norm, anything that suites your fancy (I can trust you with that *anything* part, right? ;) ).

A small history of the 'nrg' thing.
I used to work in a bowling alley many moons ago, and at the time, the bowling computers could only hold 3 initials for bowler names. I really sucked at bowling, so instead of using my first and last initials - 'NO', I came up with 'Not Really Good' - a.k.a N.R.G (thus, it is not short hand notation for 'energy', nor is it pronounced 'nerg' lol [when I first started in the game industry over a decade ago, there was a programmer who kept calling me that..hated it lol]).

The initials kind of stuck over the years in forums and whatnot (but have lost the abbreviation of what it stood for). Over time, I felt 'nrg' alone wasn't enough...much like being in cold water for a while, it felt small... so I attached '_alpha' to augment it. Voila! nrg_alpha.

There you have it... the embarrasing truth!

Well, you could call me that if that name is less boring for you :)

Thanks Andy.

Actually, I never considered this as late. I wasn't expecting it to be honest. It was a pleasant surprise more than anything else. All I did (and will continue to do) is help out if I can and absorb / learn from others what I can to futher myself. I'm no pro at this, but slow and steady wins the race, no?

To be honest, I was more or less keeping my eye on my post count as I edge ever so closer to that milestone 1000 post mark to make it a 'Woowhoooo! Made it this far!' thread in Miscellaneous forum [oh, it's coming!] (I can hear some members snickering in the background at my upcoming 1000th post, which they themselves have eclipsed 6, 7 times or more already...) But hey, you have to start somewhere, right?

So for me, it isn't about how fast can I earn my wings around here, so much as learning how to fly in the first place and helps others in the process. ;)

Lol, slow and steady is the way to go in the learning process; although it's extremely boring it's the best way to remember what you have learned as you have time to implement it :)

As for bettering yourself, I do not think of it as that lol I would call it, `quenching the thirst for knowledge.`

Anyhow; hopefully I got plenty of time left for that, I might exen see a day that windows creates a standards complient Internet Explorer.

lol :P

The little voice in my head pronounces it as "energy", so "energy alpha" sounds kind of cool and original.  Maybe if it were actually "Energy Alpha" or "energyAlpha".  Not digging the underscore and definitely not digging the "nrg" because it seems too script-kiddie.

Hehe.. well, the nrg ('supposed to be' pronounced as the three letters that they are; 'en-are-gee') doesn't stand for anything anymore (although I can certainly see the 'script-kiddie-ness' when one thinks of something along the lines of 'energy'. As for the underscore, forums past that I visited didn't allow spaces, therefore no nrg alpha, so an underscore fit the bill to my linking, and have used that ever since..

But if "energy alpha" is what the voice says... so be it ;)
