Where did "My bookmarks" go?
:anim_rules: Seriously... if people don't start reading this before posting, I'm going to consider not answering at all.

Me neither, seems to work fine for me.

From the quick reply quote this & hit Preview... shows up fine then, now click preview again.

That's exactly what I did, I couldn't reproduce the behaviour. On a whim I decided to try it again as I'm on a different PC and using a difference browser. The problem occurred the first time I clicked Preview, without the need to click it a second time. Now I'm not entirely sure how a different browser should effect things (as I haven't looked into how the forum software works), but it would seem that is the key factor. On Firefox it works fine on both my desktop and laptop. On Chrome on my laptop I get the 'bug' (haven't tested Chrome on my desktop, that would mean actually going downstairs).

Yeah Chrome is my main browser, interesting that it is browser specific... I guess this is more of a forum software problem rather than a PF specific problem, so I should probably open a ticket with them huh?

Most likely. I thought I'd have a quick look at the page source between the two browsers to see if any differences stuck out, but it would appear the preview_body div is actually populated using JavaScript and I know practically nothing about JavaScript.

There seems to be a bbc tag anomaly in the post system. If I cut and paste a different text style / colour into a post, like this:
"This is NOT a help forum!" and hit preview... I get some remnant bbc tags in the preview pane at the end of this paragraph (oddly enough, if I cut and paste that different text into the post without quotes, the text remains the same as the rest of the text in style, size and colour in the post (in other words, I had to surround the cut and pasted text in quotes to see the same style retained in the preview pane)).[/color][/b][/size][/font]

So note the stray bbc tags.. I didn't type / insert them.

I still don't understand the bug. Perhaps you could report it yourself here?

Thanks Dan, I'll report it in the link you provided. But you don't see this at the end of the second paragraph in my previous post? --> [font=verdana][size=12px][font=verdana][/color][color=rgb(68, 68, 68)][/b][/color][/font][/size][size=12px][/font][/size][/font][/size]
I didn't type these.. they were generated upon hitting the preview button. In anycase, I'll post in that link. Thanks.

EDIT - Ok, now this post is changing the bbc tags on me lol..rather hard to accurately report like that.. I'll just mozie on over to the SMF forum.

Why does a solved not span the entire row with the green background?

Ok, I tested this over at SMF, and it is not reproducable, but it is here (so this tells me its on our end - at least here on my browser - Chrome 3). So I'll try to explain things better by illustrating them step-by-step.

  • highlight and control+c the "Hello X" (X being your username) line found beneath the PHP Freaks logo in the header and paste it into the quick reply field of a thread and hit preview. It will look normal (so far so good).
  • Now that we are in the preview mode, simply repaste it again.. it should now look as it does under the logo (larger dark grey font) I suspect this has something to do with the way the preview window handles things differently? But hitting preview again at this point will not reveal the closing bbc tags.
  • Now simply hit enter, then preview again. Now the bbc tags [/color][/size][/color] shows up (at least for me it does).
Alternatively (as I just found out another way)...

  • Before doing anything, in a thread, simply hit preview on quick reply (with nothing typed or pasted in), In the preview, you'll get the typical "The message body was left empty" error.
  • Now paste the "Hello X" text... it will look as it does beneath the logo (larger dark grey - which at this point runs in paralelle with point 2 in the previous set of steps, which confirms that it has something to do with pasting different text once the post has already been previewed once already). Again, hitting preview at this point will not yield any bbc tags.
  • Now hit enter and then preview again.. I get the same closing bbc tags displayed.

Hopefully this helps reproduce this issue. It seems that once a post is previewed, any different text (different as in a different size/colour) will be accurately reflected within the post field and preview window.. but as soon as you hit enter, the closing bbcs tags should appear.

@nrg_alpha
I can't recreate that behaviour using either Chrome (ver. 3.0.195.33) or Firefox (ver. 3.5.5). But since it's related to both the Preview and BBCode tags, I'm guessing it's potentially an issue caused by the same thing that is causing KingPhilips problem.

Could very well be, cags. I haven't tested this in FF, IE or any other broweryet  (will test in those shortly and report what I found), but it is perfectly reproducable here on my end. :(

Update: Ok, so I tested this on FireFox (3.5.4) and could not reproduce this.. so it is a Chrome thing.. but I'm left wondering, since say cags is using Chrome (same exact version as me, 3.0.195.33) and obvisouly we are browsering the same forum version, what's left? I would be hard pressed to think the OS is the difference maker? I'm using WinXP Service pack 3 (again, I would doubt that would be the culprit)... What could be left that makes this reproducable on mine but not on others? Strange...

It's not necessarily here. I reported another bug a couple of days ago that wasn't reproducible there either, but was on a clean install. They must be running another version.
