Is there a PHP Character Recognition Software?
« on: July 26, 2010, 01:04:38 PM »
I wonder if there is a php character recognition software out there that can be integrated into a site.
I have a site where I import loads amount of emails through an automated processes. The emails then get posted on the website. The problem is, some emails contain a big image ad as part of the body so the text becomes unsearchable because it is contained in the image.  So I'm in need of a software that could read the text in the image that can also be displayed in the email or applied to keyword tags.  Is there a PHP OCR software out there?

Not something I hear much about but I know stuff is out there for it. You could always try google...?  Anyway this will link you to some OCR php libraries you could check out http://lmgtfy.com/?q=php+ocr&l=1

You'll need to integrate them into your own software.
