Hate
Hi, I'm writing some software and I'm wanting to store user statistics on my web-server remotely. My application outputs the statistics into a txt file and asks the user if they would like to submit this data to my server to help the project (statistics gathering ) and if they submit it I want the information stored in a mysql database on my web-server. I was thinking about passing the data in through the url in an http request to the page, but there's too much data. I'm interested in finding out if it's possible to upload a file directly to a php script. I could use FTP to place it on my server, but that would require me putting the ftp login into the program, which I don't feel safe about doing that. At least with a php script I'm able to filter and process any input before it's inserted into the database. Is it actually possible to upload directly to my server from a php file in an http request from an application though?
btherl
You can send the data in a post. There's actually a standard for uploading files, the technical details are here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.file-upload.php
