We are seeking an experienced and talented manager to take the lead on Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment services. You will be responsible for ensuring that the SLC vision – “Achieving Potential” - is implemented to benefit service users, and that our values are delivered through the effective management of resources, with a focus on continuous improvement. You will also be involved in identifying and pursuing new opportunities to achieve the Group’s growth plans. In addition you will be a member of the Group Operations Management Team, helping to shape the organisation’s future. We are looking for an individual with management experience in the social care sector who is able to demonstrate both an awareness of and ability to lead the delivery of services primarily to individuals with hearing impairments, which will be the primary focus of the role. The post will also entail, however, the delivery of services to individuals with physical disability / visual impairments. A sound understanding of the ‘Supporting People’ agenda would also be beneficial. You must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, a “can-do” approach and the ability to ‘think outside the box’. Strong inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as are a commitment to quality and partnership working.</description>

The service provides high quality long-term, short break and shared care placements for disabled children with a wide range of needs. Your role will be to support the Fostering Service Manager in the recruitment, training, assessment and supervision of a range of foster carers and contribute to the further development of the service. This will be delivered in line with the minimum fostering standards and regulations as with other independent agencies. The team of Social Workers will support carers within specific areas of the region. The preferred area for recruitment is Suffolk or Norfolk where our current foster carers are located; however the service is also being developed in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and other parts of the region. There are further plans to develop and expand the service and its geographical catchment area and therefore we will consider Social Workers based in the surrounding areas to the region. Along with a Dip/SW or CQSW, you will have experience of working with children and families, and preferably family placement. You will be required to actively promote the needs of disabled children and work creatively to ensure they have equal access to family placements.
