ZendCon & OpenEnterprise 2018

In case you missed it, ZendCon is coming back to town - and it's going to be quite an exciting one.

This year, the conference is going to be extended to include an even wider variety of Open Source content and focus on solving real-world, enterprise-class problems under the new Open Enterprise umbrella.  So you can expect more content around Machine Learning, Blockchain, Serverless and more - complementing and extending the scope of the conference.

In addition to the top notch PHP content people have come to expect from ZendCon, there are also some specifically interesting possible future directions we're researching for the PHP language itself - that I hope to be able to demonstrate at the conference.

Last but not least - one of the keynote speakers will be Michael (Monty) Widenius, the founding father of MySQL and the more recent MariaDB which is simply awesome.

I'm not sure a lot of people know that - but Monty was involved in the early stages of PHP - and even came to Israel for the 1st & only face to face meeting that included (almost) everyone who was working on PHP at the time.  That is, of course, back when it was actually a feasible thing to do.  I'm sure his keynote is going to be remarkably interesting for anyone that's interested in PHP or Open Source in general.  From my point of view, this coming full circle after about 20 years of intense PHP-MySQL collaboration.
